The 3D pictures in the book come from our own studio, and the diagrams were drawn for the book. No picture was made by AI. These are the people and groups whose work we built on, with thanks.
3D models
These four models are shared under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 licence (CC BY 4.0). We changed each one, as listed. Our versions are painted plain white and carry no airline’s colors, names or logos. Crediting a creator does not mean they endorse this book.

Photographs in the book and the films are public domain (NASA, US Air Force, US Navy, FAA, NTSB, US Forest Service, Air National Guard, Library of Congress) or CC0 (Smithsonian Open Access, Daderot). Each is credited where it appears in the book.
Software and fonts
- The 3D viewer uses three.js (MIT License, Copyright 2010-2026 three.js authors).
- Fonts: Merriweather and Montserrat (SIL Open Font License 1.1). On this website, Merriweather is cut down to the letters we use and renamed “Plano Serif”, as its licence asks. Licence texts: Merriweather, Montserrat.
